This Marathon is very different from what you expect. You will not run but you are asked to stop and to listen to what God wants to tell you. You will not sweat and burn all your energy but you will be refreshed and strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit. Lastly, you will not have to worry about crossing the finishing line last or far beyond the scheduled time because you are already a winner as you have decided to set off to race for God!
The aim of this Prayer Marathon is to discover God’s thoughts about yourself. The number of thoughts God has about you outnumbers the grains of sand on the seashore. He ceaselessly thinks about you because he has created you; he rejoices in you and has a very special plan for you. In creating you he designed every detail of your body, determined your natural talents and the uniqueness of your personality, and he has given your life a purpose. Just as an inventor knows every detail of his creation and knows exactly what his creation should be used for, so does God know everything about you. And just as an inventor takes pleasure in his creation and thinks day and night about how to improve it in order to make the best possible use of it, so does God think about us.
By joining this Marathon, you are accepting God’s invitation to get to know him better and through knowing him as your Creator, to get to know yourself better. So, do not hesitate a minute longer; try to discover how much God loves you and how wonderfully he thinks about you!
