  10. I would like to thank and express my heartfelt gratitude to Father Jozef – for his never-ending support of our Czech and Slovak community in London. John Paul II. before he passed away communicated a very important message to us – to work as hard as possible to bring all Christians together. Father Jozef must have listened to this message very carefully as he is making every effort to do just the same as far as he can in our little community.
It is absolutely amazing to see Slovak people reading the Holy Scriptures in Czech language and vice versa. The Holy Mass is actually conducted in such way that both communities are content. The Holy Scripture readings, bidding-prayers are read out in both Slovak and Czech and the sermon is also carried out equally by both Father Jozef and Czech deacon Zdenko. Literally, half of the Holy Mass is done in Slovak and half in Czech language. Father Jozef himself reads out the Gospel in Czech language to accommodate our Czech counterparts in the church.
I believe these acts of kindness are bringing Slovaks and Czechs even closer than ever; as if Slovakia and Czech Republic never separated from each other. I recently joined a choir, where there is a mixture of Slovaks and Czechs happily signing away both Slovak and Czech hymns during the mass. This way our two communities are learning more about each other’s customs and traditions; as well as traditional hymns and prayers. Actually, after the Holly Mass, our two communities have the opportunity of getting to know each other, while sipping a cup of tea or coffee. And, everyone is always welcome – my parents came over from Slovakia and they were personally welcomed by Father Jozef and recognized in front of the whole church to ensure that they feel welcome.
Having lived and worked for more than seven years and coming to London Bridge and Velehrad from time to time I feel that Father is a tremendous character that is always trying to help people and making every effort to ensure that we are close to our Lord, as London with both its good and bad sides that it has to offer, can seriously change people and sometimes may lure people away from Christ.
Personally, I had an issue that I consulted Father Jozef about; and I found it absolutely incredible that he spent more than two hours with me discussing this issue to ensure that I make a right decision. Moreover, talking to other people from the community I discovered that my case was not a one-off case. Father Jozef spends as much time as it is necessary for anyone that is in need of his guidance.
Having experienced the atmosphere and warmness of being part of the community, I have now become a regular part of Sunday Masses and all events organised by Father Jozef and his volunteers.
Me and my fellow friends are willing to make every effort to support Father Jozef and Zdenko in their efforts of bringing our communities closer than ever.

Lord bless Father Jozef and Zdenko

    Stanislav
